But if I can suspend my disbelief for a Hallmark Christmas Movie, I can try to do it for a novella. I had trouble suspending my disbelief with the way everything got fixed for the main female character financially. It felt pretty sad for a Christmas novella, but it did turn it around in the end. But this was a pretty sad story about a widower who is struggling to just raise his kid and live his life and a divorcee who is struggling financially. In just under 150 pages I don’t know that you could do any better than that. I enjoyed the two main characters for the most part, but they were pretty flat. We opened up the festivities with an okay, but not great read this year. I have an anthology of 9 Christmas novellas/short stories that I’ll be reading during the month of June before I read 5 (yes, FIVE) different Christmas NetGalley ARCs. I’m starting my Christmas in July reads way too early this year since I finished all my other reading obligations for the month. It looks like a Christmas horror novel, right? No? Just me? Okay.
